Research administration
The research administration division is in charge of many different projects involving research. It handles applications for both research and professional training sabbaticals, applications directed to specific research and project funds, and also manages the recording of academic rating assessments for University of Akureyri staff. The division provides information relating to applications for grants from various research funds. The research administration's offices are located within the Research Centre on the third floor of the University of Akureyri's Borgir building. The e-mail address is: rannsoknir@unak.is.
Professors, associate professors, assistant professors and adjunct lecturers at the University of Akureyri may apply for research leave as per the conditions stated within their contracts.
Administration and support service employees may apply for professional training leave in a similar manner.
Adjunct lecturers, assistant and associate professors of the University of Akureyri should submit applications for academic rating assessments before March 1st annually. Professors should submit their information before the February 1st annually. (The research administration will forward these applications to the science division of the University of Iceland, which deals with all academic rating assessments for professors.) The results of these academic rating assessments may influence staff salaries and the rating assessment reports also constitute applications to the work assessment fund. The University of Akureyri Bibliography is based on information disclosed in these employee reports.
The administration of grants and research funds is an important part of research administration operations. It administers the following funds: the University of Akureyri Research Fund, KEA University Fund and the University of Akureyri Project Fund .
