The Little Prince
This play about the little Prince is based on the well-known novel written by Antoinede Saint-Exupéry. It is both a children’s performance and a family’s performance, making several profound and idealistic points about life and human nature and showing how different adults are from children. The essence of the story is contained in the famous line uttered by the fox to the Little Prince: “it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
The idea behind this performance is to join elements from the Norwegian traditional folkdances and folkmusic with theatre. The story is told by traditional folk music and dance and every character has his or her personal music and movements. The Norwegian title on this performance is “Den Vesle Prinsen” and it was first shown at Fřrde International Folkmusic Festival in summer 2006. The production is a co-operation between the festival, Sogn og Fjordane Teater (Sogn og Fjordane region theatre) and Sogn og Fjordane Fylkeskommune (Sogn og Fjordane county council).
