Workshops

Want to learn how to play Swedish folk fiddle tunes ?
How about playing langspil, or Kantele?
Ever thought of learning Finnish folk songs or Norwegian folk dances?

Now is your chance !

Tradition for Tomorrow is offering 18 workshops in three days by the finest Nordic folk artists.

Where: All workshops but two will be in spacious classrooms at the University of Akureyri, UnAk. Two will be at the Akureyri Music School.
When: Thursday, Friday or Saturday (21 - 23 August) at 10:00-12:00 and 14:30-16:30. Only the workshop "Folk Ensemble Playing" will be at 15:00 - 17:00)
Cost: The price for a two hour workshop is only ISK 2.000 (ca. €13). Same low price for everyone. If you register after 20. August or later the price will be ISK 2.500.

Ability levels: Most workshops are open to all comers and will be taught by ear so students do not need to be able to read music. It is recommended to bring personal recording devices to record tunes etc. A few workshops do require prior experience of playing the instrument being taught. Please check individual workshop descriptions for details.
Workshop numbers: Some workshops have limited number of places, so book your places early to avoid disappointment.
