The University of Akureyri Research Centre - RHA

The University of Akureyri Research Centre is an independent centre within the University of Akureyri.  It was established in 1992 and has conducted numerous research projects and consultations for companies, organisations and ministries both domestically and through foreign research grants. The main goal of RHA is to enhance the University of Akureyri‘s research capabilities and to strengthen the University’s ties to the local and national economies. Furthermore, RHA assists and leads in the development of new projects within the University. 

RHA has a cross-disciplinary focus in many of its projects as is reflected by the diverse background of its staff members.  RHA has been a member of diverse international projects usually within European or Nordic frameworks.  RHA holds 11 staff members in 2010 with some of them holding part-time positions.

  •  Regional development and regional policy
  • Socio-economic impacts of infrastructure development
  •  Municipal government
  •  Knowledge economy and impacts on regional development
  •  Demographic changes and gender studies
  • Climate change and its impacts
