Professor Heininen honored with the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa of Petrozavodsk State University

Lassi Heininen, professor of Arctic Politics and the leader of the UArctic Geopolitics and Security Thematic Network will be honored with the degree of the Doctor Honoris Causa of Petrozavodsk State University.

The Academic Council of the Petrozavodsk State University (PetrSU) has decided to honor professor of the University of Lapland Lassi Heininen with the degree of the Doctor Honoris Causa. 

Professor Heininen has been cooperating with PetrSU since early 1990s and he has been engaged in several projects over the years: 

• Organizing the Kuhmo Summer Academy together with PetrSU and its rector in Kuhmo, Kostamus and Petrozavodsk in early 1990s
• Lectures at PetrSU since 1990 and supervising students since 2003
• NorFA visiting professorship at PetrSU in 2003-2006
• Founder and director of the International Summer School in Karelia since 2003

The diploma ceremony will be held at the 75th Anniversary of PetrSU.
